Today’s focus: Recognizing which basic needs went unmet back then — and that YOU can meet them today.
🎥 Your video for Day 9 will appear here soon.
Today’s Teaching
Behind every “I am wrong” stands an unmet need. To be seen. To be safe. To be allowed to simply be, without earning it. To have your feelings acknowledged. To know that your needs matter as much as anyone else’s.
When these basic needs go unmet in childhood, the body learns: “My needs don’t matter. I will suppress them to keep the peace. I will be the one who adapts, who goes without, who makes it easy for others.” This becomes a lifelong pattern. And it becomes the reason self-love feels so difficult — because self-love is actually the practice of meeting your own needs.
Here is the radical truth: the adult you are today can give the child what was missing. You can re-parent yourself. You can meet your own needs. And when you do this consciously, announced to yourself and your spirit animal, you are not being selfish. You are building the foundation of self-love that will carry you for the rest of your life.
Your Ritual Today
The needs ritual: consciously giving yourself what you have been missing:
- From a list of basic needs (rest, safety, being seen, belonging, touch, freedom, joy), choose the 3 strongest ones that feel unmet in you.
- For the strongest one, take ONE concrete action today.
- Examples: if rest is the need, take 30 minutes in nature without your phone; if being seen is the need, tell one true thing about yourself to someone you trust.
- At your altar, announce this action out loud: “I am doing this for you, my inner child. I am giving you what you have been waiting for.”
- Do the action. Receive it fully.
Your Workbook
Today’s workbook includes a needs inventory and an idea list: “How I can give myself what I was missing.” Brainstorm concrete actions — small and large — that meet each need. This list becomes the foundation for your self-care plan in week 3. You are building your own toolkit for feeling cared for.
