Today’s focus: The hardest part: the things you don’t forgive YOURSELF for.
🎥 Your video for Day 13 will appear here soon.
Today’s Teaching
For many women, the harshest creditor is not someone else. It is you. You carry a guilt list — things you did, things you didn’t do, ways you fell short, choices you regret. And unlike forgiveness toward others, self-forgiveness often feels dangerous. It feels like you are excusing yourself. Like you are avoiding responsibility. Like you are letting yourself off the hook.
But here is what is true: you did what you could with what you knew at the time. Every choice you made back then made sense in that moment, with the information and the nervous system state you had. To forgive yourself is not to excuse what happened. It is to release the illusion that you could have known better back then. You were doing your best with what you had. And that was enough.
Self-forgiveness is an act of radical self-love. It says: I am allowed to be human. I am allowed to have made mistakes. And I am allowed to become wiser from them, rather than staying imprisoned by them.
Your Ritual Today
The mirror ritual, part 2: forgiving yourself:
- Stand in front of the mirror and look at your own eyes.
- From your guilt list, address each item one by one: “I did this… I didn’t do that… I was this way…”
- To each item, say: “I did what I could back then. I forgive myself. I set you free.”
- Close by speaking to yourself in the friend voice from day 6: speak words of kindness and understanding, as if to a beloved who has struggled.
- Place your hand on your heart. Breathe.
Your Workbook
Today’s workbook features a self-forgiveness letter template with sentence starters to guide you. Write to yourself about what you are forgiving. Be honest. Be kind. Let tears come if they come. Also included: reflection on what shifts when you forgive yourself.
