Learning Guide

Shamanism Is Not a Gift.
It's Your Forgotten Nature.
And You Can Relearn It.

For over 40,000 years, people in every culture have learned to journey into the spirit world — through the steady rhythm of a drum, not through substances or blind belief. This guide gently shows you how the path of shamanism is learned, step by step.

First Things First

What Shamanism Is

Shamanism is humanity's oldest spiritual practice — a practical way of entering an expanded state of consciousness, connecting with helping spirits, and bringing back guidance, power, and healing. It is not a religion and requires no belief system. Like playing an instrument or learning a language, it is a practice: anyone willing to walk the path can learn it.

A Method You Can Learn

The shamanic journey uses rhythmic drumming to guide your brain into a relaxed theta state — the same state you pass through every night before sleep. You stay aware and in control the whole time.

Universal & Cross-Cultural

From Siberia to Peru to Mongolia, the core practices are strikingly similar. One Shamanism teaches these universal methods — respectfully, without copying any single indigenous tradition.

Guided by Spirit Allies

At the heart of the practice is relationship: with your power animal, your spirit guides, and the living world around you. They become your true teachers on the path.

Step by Step

How to Learn Shamanism: The Path

This is the sequence I walk with my students — the same one shamanic apprentices have followed for millennia, adapted with love for modern life.

1

Learn to Journey with the Drum

Everything begins with the shamanic journey. Guided by a steady drumbeat of around 4–7 beats per second, you learn to shift into the shamanic state of consciousness — awake, safe, and receptive. Most students experience their first journey in a single guided session.

2

Meet Your Power Animal

Your first destination is the Lower World, where you meet your personal power animal — a lifelong guide, protector, and source of wisdom. This relationship becomes the foundation of everything that follows.

3

Explore the Three Worlds

Shamanic cosmology maps the spirit realm into the Lower, Middle, and Upper World. You learn what belongs where, how to travel safely between them, and how to meet the teachers and guides of each realm.

Build a Daily Practice

Shamanism grows through rhythm and repetition: short journeys, shamanic breathing, gratitude to the spirits of the land, divination for everyday questions. Fifteen minutes a day changes everything.

Learn Healing Techniques

With a stable practice, you begin the deeper work: chakra balancing, extraction, ancestral healing, and soul retrieval — first for your own transformation, and later, if you feel called, in service of others.

A Common Question

The Drum Carries You — Gently.

The drum has been called the "horse of the shaman" for a reason: its steady rhythm carries you into the journey state naturally and gently — and you can return the moment you choose. This makes the practice safe, repeatable, and fully yours, and it's how I guide every student from their very first journey. Plant medicine is another shamanic door, held sacred by some traditions — here is why I lovingly choose the drum instead.

Is This Path for You?

You Can Learn Shamanism If…

You've always felt drawn to shamanism, nature, and the unseen world — even if you can't quite explain why.

You have no experience at all. The path welcomes beginners; every shaman once journeyed for the first time.

You're seeking clarity, grounding, and guidance you can access yourself — anytime, without depending on anyone.

You long to heal old wounds — your own, and perhaps one day help others heal theirs.

You sense there is more to reality than the everyday world — and you're ready to explore it safely.

You value flexibility: learning live online or at your own pace, from anywhere in the world.

Your Guide

I'm Carolin — I teach shamanism from the heart.

I had my first shamanic visions as a child, suppressed them for years, and finally left the corporate world when life called me back. I've trained in shamanic lineages from Siberia to Mongolia and North America — and as a Certified NLP Trainer (Society of NLP), trained directly by NLP co-founder Dr. Richard Bandler, I bring a deep understanding of the subconscious mind and hypnosis into everything I teach. Ancient practice and modern psychology — bridged with heart.

FAQ

Learning Shamanism — Good to Know

Can anyone learn shamanism?
Yes. Journeying is a natural human ability practiced across every continent for over 40,000 years. You don't need a special gift or heritage — you need guidance, practice, and an open heart.
Do I need psychedelics or plant medicine?
No. The classic method is rhythmic drumming, which guides the brain into a relaxed, receptive theta state. You remain fully aware and in control at all times — no substances needed.
How long does it take to learn?
Most people experience their first journey within a single guided session. A solid foundation — confident journeying, a relationship with your power animal, and first healing techniques — typically grows over a few months of regular practice.
Do I need a teacher?
Free resources are a wonderful start, but a teacher gives you safe structure and helps you interpret your experiences. Ultimately your greatest teachers are your own spirit guides — a human teacher simply shows you how to reach them.
Is shamanism a religion?
No. Shamanism is a universal practice, not a belief system. It works alongside any faith — or none at all.
Can I learn shamanism online?
Yes — journeying works beautifully in guided online settings. The Elements of Shamanism training is taught live online, with lifetime access to recordings so you can also learn entirely at your own pace.
I'm highly sensitive / an empath — is this path for me?
Especially for you. In the old cultures, the sensitive ones were so often the ones called to the healer's path. Shamanism gives you grounding, energetic boundaries, and a lifelong protector — here is the whole loving answer →
